The Department of Municipal Affairs in the Emirate of Sharjah is the local government body concerned with providing support, development, and supervision to raise the efficiency and quality of municipal work by proposing and monitoring the implementation of legislation, regulations, and systems for municipal councils and municipalities of cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, in order to ensure raising the level of municipal services provided to citizens and residents and improving them toward The highest standards, which creates an environment with a high-quality standard of living for the emirate's residents and enhances the positive relationship with companies and local community institutions.

Department of Municipal Affairs Participates in Afforestation Week with a Range of Distinguished Community Initiatives
The Department of Municipal Affairs in the Emirate of Sharjah is participating in the annual 2025 Afforestation Week, held across the United Arab Emirates from 25 November to 1 December, through a diverse program of activities and community events aimed at enhancing environmental engagement and encouraging sustainable practices. The Department attended the ceremony of raising the international Green Flag Award at Al Hamriyah Municipality for the third consecutive year, held at Al Hamriyah Beach Park. It also attended the inauguration of the municipality’s “Community Farm” project, which serves as a practical model of cooperation between the municipality and local residents. The project features a variety of agricultural crops, including vegetables and fruits, in addition to beehives for honey production, forming a unique community platform that promotes agricultural sustainability and encourages cooperation and solidarity among community members. In collaboration with the emirate’s municipalities, the Department also provided seedlings and distributed them to schools and to visitors at Al Suyoh Family Park through its dedicated platform.
