As part of Sharjah’s efforts toward digital integration and the development of government services, the Department of Municipal Affairs in the Emirate of Sharjah has announced a significant achievement in the initiative to document real estate units by modeling engineering plan information, under the "Aqari" platform project launched by the Sharjah Digital Office. His Excellency Sultan Mohammed bin Huwiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, affirmed that documenting real estate units through the modeling of plan data is a strategic initiative that directly supports the emirate’s vision for digital integration in the real estate sector. He stated: “This initiative is one of the core components of the 'Aqari' platform project, through which the Department of Municipal Affairs oversees the engineering aspect of the platform. This aims to build a precise digital real estate database that includes detailed building information across different areas of the emirate, such as the sizes and dimensions of all real estate units. This supports future planning decisions and reflects the high level of coordination and integration among government entities in Sharjah — a fundamental pillar in enhancing the efficiency of government services and meeting user needs in line with best practices and standards.” In the same context, His Excellency Sheikh Engineer Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Department of Municipal Affairs, explained that the initiative represents a qualitative leap in managing and utilizing real estate information to serve the sector. He noted that the team successfully modeled more than 2.8 million square meters of building areas through the documentation and modeling of over 1,300 real estate projects, comprising more than 42,000 real estate units of various uses — including residential, commercial, industrial, and service — across the emirate. He added that the modeling process also involves restructuring and redefining all engineering components and accurately converting their data into standard digital formats that can be processed using modern systems and artificial intelligence. This paves the way toward automating real estate services by enhancing the quality and accuracy of real estate data in the emirate. The Department of Municipal Affairs reaffirms its commitment to continuing its efforts to strengthen integration with government entities, develop and govern engineering standards, and support the municipal and real estate work system, thereby contributing to sustainable development in the Emirate of Sharjah.
