As part of its efforts to enhance field preparedness, a delegation from the Department of Municipal Affairs conducted an inspection tour of all municipalities in the Emirate of Sharjah to assess their readiness to deal with the expected rainy weather. The tour included a review of emergency plans, the efficiency of stormwater drainage networks, and the readiness of equipment and machinery. It also assessed the deployment of field teams in vital locations most prone to water accumulation and evaluated the effectiveness of municipal services in responding to storms and their associated challenges. His Excellency Sultan Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department, affirmed that these tours are part of a proactive approach aimed at enhancing rapid response and protecting lives and property. He emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant authorities and commended their efforts and cooperation in addressing weather-related emergencies. For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Engineer Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, explained that the municipalities have raised their level of preparedness to advanced levels, strategically distributing equipment and machinery and intensifying maintenance work on stormwater drainage networks to ensure a swift and effective response to any emergency. The tour also included strengthening community awareness plans, with the department urging community members to adhere to guidelines and avoid low-lying areas and places where water accumulates during rainfall. The delegation concluded its visits by commending the level of preparedness in the emirate's municipalities, emphasizing the continuation of field visits to monitor municipal operations, enhance joint coordination, and ensure the highest standards of efficiency and readiness to address various weather conditions.
